What is your role within the organization?
I’m currently part of the Graduate Program, which is the first time this has been done in Westermo Ireland, and was honoured to receive the first Westermo IE email address. My role within the company is as an infrastructure security engineer in which I am involved in cyber security through the system testing of our secure cellular wireless routers like the Merlin series, produced here in Dublin. Specifically in compliance with IEC 62433 which are international cybersecurity standards, I must ensure our device's quality standards are met.
Why did you choose to join the Westermo trainee program?
I chose to join the Westermo trainee program as I saw it as a great opportunity to not only use what I learned through my degree but to also gain real experience from knowledgeable professionals in a specialized field.
One aspect of the trainee program that really attracted me was the prospect of traveling and working in other countries where the company is based. This is something that interested me in the possibility of experiencing different cultures and work environments, as well as gaining invaluable knowledge and experience from a variety of IT experts.
What areas of cybersecurity are you particularly interested in exploring or mastering?
At the moment I am focused on further expanding my knowledge in cyber security, learning everything I can and how the techniques I have learned can be implemented and tested in my day-to-day work. However, I am also aware of the need for strong computer networking skills and hope to develop in this area giving myself a well-rounded foundation while I continue this in part with my current training.
