Product Manager for Cellular Routers

Your will work to further develop and strengthen our Cellular router offering through a good understanding of the market environment and a close collaboration with our sales channels and R&D teams.

Westermo is looking for a Product Manager who will be responsible for a portfolio of Industrial Cellular routers that provides secure and robust solutions to customers in power distribution, water & wastewater, transportation and other customers requiring resilient data communication.

Your will work to further develop and strengthen our Cellular router offering through a good understanding of the market environment and a close collaboration with our sales channels and R&D teams. A large part of the role also includes product launch activities, managing the portfolio through the different phases of the life cycle and work with the complete organization to continuously improve our offering. 

Westermo recently acquired Virtual Access - a Dublin based technology company specialized in industrial cellular routers and gateways and managed connectivity services for customers mainly in the utility, traffic management and telecommunications sector. You will work in close collaboration with Virtual Access to build an enhanced Westermo product portfolio of Industrial Cellular routers.

 Main responsibilities

  • Market and customer analysis Capture outside market situation (market, customers, competitors, trends, etc.),Understand customer drivers and needs, and translate these into product requirements to further strengthen our value proposition. 
  • Managing the portfolio of products Continuously improve the portfolio through in-depth understanding of the products and its current situation. To manage the portfolio through the different stages in the product life cycle and take pro-active measures to maintain out strong brand equity and maximize short- and long-term profitability. 
  • Plan and oversee the development of new portfolio Work with idea generation and innovation, capture market requirements, Create market requirement specifications for new product development activities.
  • Successful go to market Professional launch of new products to the market, work with sales and sales support to increase sales of existing products, pricing strategies, and continuously support market communication activities. You will have a lot of internal and external contacts and be an important part of Westermo’s growth journey. The role includes travelling to our market channels all over the world. The job is based at our new Västerås office.

  Skills and competences

  • Master of Science in a relevant field of study
  • At least 10 years of relevant working experience
  • At least 3-5 years’ experience of product management in an industrial environment
  • Good presentation and communication skills
  • A good general understanding of industrial products, markets, customers and channels
  • Product management, including
    - Market and customer analysis
    - Creation and communication of value propositions
    - Good understanding of pricing and profitability mechanisms
    - Development of product strategies and product roadmaps
    - Requirement specifications and prioritization
    - Market product launch and market communication
  • Data communication
    - Cellular technologies, 4G/LTE, 5G
    - TCP/IP, networking, routing and switching
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role
  • Fluent in both Swedish and English
