Are you our new R&D Project Manager - Agile Software Development?
To take the next step on a successful journey, Westermo is recruiting yet another Project Manager for agile software development of communication devices, to the office in Kopparlunden, Västerås. In this role, you will drive agile teams for software development from requirements break down, through development and testing, all the way to release to our products in serial production. We are proud to say that we have our own factory for electronics production here in Sweden, located not far from the engineering office!

We achieve this using our in-house developed products and application know-how. We act globally and in a big variety of markets such as Trains, Trackside, Energy sector, Infrastructure etc.

What you’ll be working with and responsible for:
If you choose to join Westermo you will be part of a small team of skilled and dedicated HW and SW project managers working side by side helping each other out, sharing knowledge and experience. In this team we encourage everyone to contribute to improve our ways of working going forward. We try to work in a structured yet pragmatic way. We need to stay agile but with good control as we are an important part of a growing business, on a global market.

As a Project Manager at Westermo for our software development you will drive daily development from an agile approach, based on our own defined software development model influenced by Kanban and Scrum. The pace is high, we continuously run several projects in parallel with some 10 releases per year running on over 140 product variants, and you will be responsible for a subset of them. A major part of our development projects relates to WeOS 4 or WeOS 5. WeOS is our very own operating systems based on Linux with advanced industrial data communication services. WeOS is the very heart of our successful and robust products and very much appreciated by our sales teams, application engineers as well as by our customers, simply a major contributor for winning orders.  Regardless the project, you will interact with the development teams, other project managers, department managers, software and hardware architects, SW test team, our state-of-the-art automated test system, requirements managers, production, external key customers and/or partners.

We are looking for someone who would fit in our Westermo company culture and who meets most of the following requirements:

Minimum requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent acquired education
  • At least 5 years of experience from software development
  • At least an additional 3 years of experience development in agile teams as SW project manager or as Agile development coach, managing multiple teams
  • Good understanding of managing development of software where open source software and proprietary software work together in products
  • As a leader you actively drive teams’ progress and drive a proactive dialogue with stakeholders 
  • Good knowledge in Swedish and English, both written & spoken 

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in software engineering
  • Experience from software development in data communication 
  • Project management experience from working with distributed development
  • Project management experience working with external customers/external partners
  • Education in agile methodologies
  • An established understanding of different development approaches, focusing on agile methodologies
